SUPE INTENSE TIKTOK VS BATTLE ON LIVE, JOIN MY LIVE!!!!!!!!
So if your TikTok "for you page" is anything like mine, ocasionally you stumble upon a video advertising or intesing you to join their TikTok live thats going on at the momment.
It might be something along the lines of "Hurry, I'm about to eat a raw egg. Join my live NOW!" or a common one along the lines of "If I don't like the person I am on live with I'm going to pour water on my head, if I do i'll pop firecracker." Those are made up examples but they're not far off from actual tiktoks that I have seen. (An example posted here on the right)
Once you join the live, their usually not doing what they promised on their little advertisement but instead their essentially having a clout battle or a popularity battle against another account.
They are on live with another creator where they're having a battle, based off of likes from people watching their live. Basically the viewers are trying to overpower the other creator with the ammount of like they give to the creator they choose. Its a contest between creators to get more likes than the other creator in a certain amount of time.
Winner is the one with more likes at the end of the time. Thats it.
It sounds complicated through text but it really so simple. take a look at the image on the right here. As the viewer continue to tap the screen for likes, while I watch the red bar over power the blue bar, at the end of the time if the red bar is bigger than the blue bar, WE WIN!!!!
Usually the people hosting the live aren't doing anything entertaining to keep people watching other than hosting the battles.
It looks and sounds very dumb and even brain rotting but there is a large audince for these types of lives.
For my project, essentially I would like to uncover what the Creators get out of this along with what the viewers get out of this. I would like to see how the viewers interact with the creator and the audiance watching. It seems to oporate as a community with one goal. Overall I want to get to the bottom of what the hell this phenomenom is.
